Hope no one is offended by these photos but this is the latest state of play with poor Major, still scratching even after double dose of Equest wormer.  I'm going to try a different tact this week. After his feed in the morning, he is going straight back out into the field, no creams, hopefully nothing too convenient to rub on - in the hope that it might start to improve by itself.

  1. Could it be a fungal or bacterial infection? How about an antimicrobial spray (we use Eqyss over here, don't know what you have available)?

  2. Poor baby! He must be miserable. You have removed the problem so maybe he will heal naturally.

  3. My horse has skin problems too, when she first started with it she had endless corses of antibiotics, it would clear up and then a couple of weeks later be back. She ended up needing Malosab washes, fusederm cream and a six week course of antibiotics to get on top of it! Eventually after skin biopsies it turn out to be infection secondary to allergies. She's much better now although has multiple allergies, inclding some types of grass believe it or not. She has had immunotherapy. Sorry for the long comment but I know how frustrating it is.
